A sun tunnel — also called a tubular skylight, light tube or solar tube — is the fast, affordable way to bring real daylight into a windowless or interior room. A small, low-profile dome on your roof captures sunlight, a highly reflective tube carries it down through the attic, and a flush ceiling diffuser spreads soft, even daylight into the space below. From the inside it looks like a recessed light fixture, except it runs on free sunshine.

Sun tunnels are perfect for the spaces in a Brantford or Ancaster home that always need the light left on: windowless bathrooms, ensuites, walk-in closets, pantries, laundry rooms, hallways, stairwells and entryways. Because there’s no wiring involved and the unit is compact, most sun tunnels are installed in just a few hours with very little mess.

How a sun tunnel works

• Roof dome — a weatherproof acrylic dome captures daylight from every angle and seals watertight to the roof.
• Reflective tube — a mirror-finish tube (up to around 98% reflective) channels the light down through the attic with very little loss, around bends if needed.
• Ceiling diffuser — a flush diffuser spreads bright, even daylight across the room. Optional dimmers, night-light kits and exhaust-fan combos are available.

Sun tunnels come in rigid and flexible tube versions and a range of diameters — typically 10″ and 14″ — so we can match the right amount of light to the size of your room and the layout of your attic.
